We are Makis & Yzaura, an artistic duet based in Barcelona. Together, we’ve created a Spoken Word performance infused with live experimental sounds and music.

Hypnotic Transphormation unfolds as a poetic journey—guided by truth and honesty—exploring the struggle against loneliness and the pressure of a world that constantly demands more.

Through this work, we confront the past, seek escape, and strive to build a safe space for our emotions. By creating exit paths and connecting with others, we aim to transform vulnerability into strength and isolation into shared experience.

People go through life hypnotized by constant changes—within ourselves and our surroundings—transforming toward happiness. This poetic performance highlights our unnoticed journey of growth and self-discovery, as we face the inner child and the old self.

Our work contributes to the conversation by providing insights and practical strategies for cultivating a connection with the inner child. We emphasize the importance of mindfulness, play, and self-compassion, offering a framework that encourages authenticity and joy. By sharing these concepts, we aim to inspire individuals to embrace their true selves while navigating the complexities of adulthood, fostering a holistic approach to personal growth and emotional well-being.

Show Description

The show flows between poetry, music, and visuals, weaving together solo and duet performances. Each segment is connected—either through spoken word or a musical undercurrent—creating a continuous emotional and artistic dialogue between us. Each of us presents five original poems poems/texts of varying lengths, accompanied by live, improvised music. Using synthesizers, loop stations, voice layering, and unconventional instruments, we build a sonic landscape that evolves with the spoken word. There are no pauses or empty spaces between pieces—we fill the voids with experimental sounds and vocal textures, crafting a seamless and immersive experience that blurs the line between poetry and sound art.

Throughout the show, we integrate audiovisual elements, live music, and immersive soundscapes to create a multi-sensory experience that deepens the emotional impact of the performance.

Our setup includes devices such as the microKORG, Boss RC-30 Loop Station, TC-Helicon VoiceLive play, TC-Helicon VoiceLive touch, Thomann Tongue Drum, and software such as Ableton Live, allowing us to layer textures, manipulate voices, and generate ambient or rhythmic patterns.

Makis Moulos

I am a poet and spoken word artist whose work explores themes of identity, mental health, silence, loneliness, and the LGBTQI+ experience. Deeply rooted in personal experience, my writing is shaped by emotion, music, and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed. My style is raw, lyrical, and experimental, often intimate, sometimes nostalgic, always honest.
As an introvert, poetry has become my most authentic form of expression. It is how I communicate, how I process the world, and how I stay connected to myself and others. Through both written and spoken word, I aim to create space for reflection, healing, and connection. I hope my work encourages others to feel, to think, to laugh or cry, and most importantly, to know they are not alone.

I’m a poet from NY based in Barcelona. In Barcelona, I have rekindled my passion for poetry. I’m a spoken word artist whose voice captures the essence of the human experience. My poetry explores themes of identity, heritage, and the wisdom of aging.

I am a regular performer at local events, and I run the open mic Gypsy Lounge in Barcelona, a monthly event that invites both novice and seasoned artists to share their work. I enjoy using vocal effects and loops to add depth to my performances. On my podcast “How About A Story”, I create vivid, immersive narratives, transporting listeners to different worlds.
