Beckie Stew / Marco Mirone - IE/ΙΤ

Beckie Stew is a writer and poet living in Barcelona. Native to Northern Ireland, her work often explores the landscape of identity and belonging, the desire for wholeness through connection to land, to places, to people and ultimately, to the self. She tries to produce works that encourage a fusion between the mundane and the uncomfortable, highlighting vulnerable intimacy with the world around us as a major theme. Her poetry has been published in America, Australia, UK and Ireland, and she continues to write and perform spoken word in Barcelona.

Beckie will perform with the musician Marco Mirone, who is her artistic partner lately.

Marco Mirone is a musician currently living in Barcelona. Born and raised in Italy, on a musical level his works take inspiration from his roots and from various trips to Europe and South America. Architect and sound artist, he has collaborated as a guitarist in several musical projects and performances between Rome and Paris.
In Barcelona he studies sound art and has had the opportunity to perform sound compositions for Hangar. Currently he is involved in sound installations and compositions for sound poetry.

His latest sound map work "Off The Record" was published in Sobre magazine, along with a podcast dealing with sound recycling in a recording studio in Barcelona. Having performed at previous spoken word events together, he and Beckie have collaborated especially for Duende to produce a multimedia sound experience.
